Easy way to work as a foreigner in Denmark

Invoicery Danmark met with Wai Yan Li in June 2021.

Wai Yan Li has used Invoicery Danmark’s platform to get employed and paid when she did a project on a freelance basis for a customer in Sweden in winter 2021.

1. What is your profession?

I am an architect working with interior design and spatial design. I graduated in the summer of 2019 from The Royal Danish Academy.

2. Why do you like to work as a freelancer?

I started to work on a freelance basis because of the demand in the sector to do so. In Denmark and Europe, it is not easy to get a long-term employment contract as a fresh graduate architect.

In 2020, I worked with a UK based company on a project in Ballerup, Denmark. It was a good experience for me and I begin to see the potential to work as a freelancer in the field of architectural design.

Now I approach companies to seek opportunities to collaborate on projects and to build up my portfolio.

I think it is important to build good relations and network with people in different companies when I work as a freelancer. One of the benefits of working as a freelancer is that it is flexible and I can plan my time accordingly.

3. Why did you choose to use Invoicery Danmark’s services?

It was an easy way to start working as a freelancer as I did not have to register my own company.

4. What do you think is the biggest challenge for you when working as a freelancer in Denmark?

When I work on a freelance basis, it is difficult to make a plan yearly e.g. when to have holidays as you don’t always know when you will have a project to work on.

5. What are the benefits of using Invoicery’s services?

As a foreigner working as a freelancer in Denmark, it was easy for me to use Invoicery's service so that I don't need to worry about paying taxes and dealing with the administration work, it was an easy way to get my career started.
